Today, the mirrorless arena is dominated by Nikon and Sony, with a strong rivalry between the flagship products that each company has to offer – the Nikon Z7 and Sony a7R III.

It has a magnesium alloy body that offers great weather sealing, and is also capable of shooting 4K UHD videos at 30 FPS. With a 399 point autofocus system, you can expect the a7R to be deadly accurate when it comes to shooting images and movies. It also sports a wide ISO range ranging right from 50 to 32,000, allowing you to capture great shots even when it’s pitch dark. When it comes to the look and feel, Sony manages to stay true to its roots. Like most of their cameras, the a7R is comfortable to hold and will easily fit in your hands. That being said, photographers who are unfamiliar with Sony cameras may have difficulty using the actual interface. Some of the most essential features for shooting can be difficult to locate due to the complexity of implemented touchscreen gestures. It may take some getting used to, but the payoff is definitely worth it in the end. When it comes to bust shooting, the a7R has the advantage over its Nikon Z7. There is a small compression when it comes to the display of the short video quality on the LCD, but overall, the quality of output almost remains the same in comparison to Z7. It only makes sense that the company promptly followed it up to it with a worthy successor in the Nikon Z7. Like the Sony a7R, the Nikon Z7 features some very incredible specs. It sports a 45.7 megapixel full frame BSI CMOS sensor, and is powered by the EXPEED 6 image processor - the latest in the series of processes that can be found in every Nikon digital camera. The Z7 supports shooting 4K UHD videos at 30 FPS and features a 493 point autofocus system that ensures that every small detail is captured. It also boasts a magnesium alloy body and full weather sealing (including battery doors), which means you can use it even when it rains! For anyone that is already used to shooting with Nikon DSLRs, the mirrorless will feel right at home. Compared to the a7R, the Nikon Z7 camera has a stunning display garnished with an interactive menu, making it a clear winner when it comes to UI. Although every spec can be compared on paper, it ultimately comes down to what you think will work the best for you. The Nikon Z7 is almost the same price as the Sony a7R III, so brand loyalists may want to stick to what they know. While there are slight differences with ISO range and the number of shots in a burst, you’re definitely going to be happy with either one.
